Supports digestion and assimilation of proteins and minerals
Micro Digest was formulated as a digestive aid to improve digestion and assimilation of minerals and proteins. In order that many nutrients can be absorped optimally, an acid environment in the stomach is needed. Micro Digest consists of two components: Betaine hydrochloric acid (produced from sugar beets) and pepsin, a protein-splitting enzyme. This makes Micro Digest an important aid for the assimilation of protein and minerals.
If the stomach produces too little hydrochloric acid (HCL), the assimilation forr minerals and proteins will be impaired. The stomach needs to form sufficient gastric acid so that important nutrients can be absorbed, otherwise nutrients needed for healthy functioning of cells, metabolism and immune system will be missing. Dr. med. Robert Atkins, also known for his work with the „Atkins Diet“, supports this thesis. He claims that most people produce too little rather than too much gastric acid. He showed that the shortage of gastric acid was due to factors such as over eating, the consequences of aging and the intake of medicines. Other researchers see the deficiency of important nutrients like organic minerals and trace elements caused by the insufficient formation of gastric acid (Atkins, Robert, Dr. Atkins Vita Nutrient Solution (Simon and Schuster, 1998, 234 – 235).
